How Much do Newborns Sleep?
Q. How many hours a day are babies -- newborns -- expected to sleep?

A. Babies sleep and eat in two to three hour cycles and they might eat for only a short time. The total sleep is 18 to 22 hours and parents can't decide what scares them more: the frequent waking to eat all day and night or the fact that the baby falls right back asleep after eating most of the time.  Both are quite normal.
